As promised, a picture of the bike. Nice, eh? This morning, when I woke up, I was quite excited to get up so I could ride my bike into work. It's like being about 13 again.

Went to register for my German course at lunchtime. It was like trying to register at the Tower of Babel. A mixture of bad German, bad English, Spanish and Hindi was being spoken in a crowd around the door to the office where you pay your money. Eventually, I figured out that the crowd was mostly made up of people who had either registered too late, or didn't get drawn out of the hat to go on the course they wanted. So, they were trying to get themselves on the waiting list for the 2pm deadline, when the places of people who hadn't turned up to pay would be allocated to whoever was around. At this point, I checked the list on the wall, and found out I had got lucky and had been assigned a place on DaF 3, so I went in and paid and left the unluckier ones to sort it out for themselves. It seems a bit mean to not provide enough places for visitors. Presumably, these people have all paid their fees to the university somehow, they ought at least to give them a chance to learn the language without paying private rates. I've no idea whether British universities are any better though.
