Forgot to mention yesterday that over the weekend we camped close to Emmendingen, where I broke my arm and had 12 stitches my head in 1996. We looked for the ruined castle where I came a cropper, but couldn't find it. There are about 1000 ruined castles on the outskirts of Emmendingen.
Built my furniture last night. I didn't have a big enough screwdriver, so I went to the 24 hour garage round the corner to look for one. Everything else closes by 8pm in Germany. The chap in the garage didn't have any Schraubenziehers to sell, so he lent me his own one which was nice of him. I told him I'd have it back in an hour, so I had to build things at considerable speed. Furniture requiring you to put self tapping screws into tubular steel should be banned by EU law. Anyway, it's all up now and looks kind of nice. My flat feels much nicer. Picture tomorrow.
Random things: saw a red squirrel in the Schloss park this morning. The people in the Italian deli have started making my espresso when they see me crossing the street outside - are obviously well versed in art of retaining regular customers. And Germany won the women's world cup final on Sunday - it's a big talking point here. Ok, back to work.
