Salon de l'agriculture

Sam has been called away to the island, so on Sunday we made an impromptu visit to the French farming fair, at the exposition centre in porte de Versailles. We took a few pictures which give an idea of what goes on - a mixture of farm animal competitions, tractor shows, and degustation of delicacies from all the regions of france. We lost count of the number of differenct cheeses, cured meats and chocolates we tried. It's a good sales tactic though - we ended up buying a typical bourgogne cheese (an Époisses - incredible flavour), a smoked lorraine sausage, and a large amount of Claret from a small chateau in the haut medoc, to be delivered some time next week. I have no idea where we're going to put it, but it's from 2005 so it should age extremely well if we can avoid drinking it all and store it well for a few years.
