Velib ramblings.. again

I've discovered the official velib blog, "velib et moi". This is very useful for my vocabulary - now I know how to explain that the brakes don't work to the next guy waiting for a bike.. I particularly like the 7 things to check before you get on the bike - I often see people doing funny things to the bikes in the stations in an effort to work out if they're duff or not before they take them. The blog officially endorses the practice of turning the saddle round on bikes on the rack that have something wrong with them, a practice that seems to evolved naturally.. wonder who thought of that first?

There are also some great comments posted by readers. Angry from Montmartre wants to know why there are never any bikes at the top of the hill.."go figure" I hear you say.. she even asks "Serais-je la seule à m’énerver sur le sujet???". Brilliant.

I also liked this guy:

Une suggestion aussi pour signaler un vélo “pas terrible mais qui fonctionne quand même s’il n’y en n’a pas d’autres à la borne” : tourner la selle à demi

i.e. turn the saddle halfway round on a bike that goes but is a bit knackered - great idea
