Steak-frites update

The title of best steak frites so far has changed hands to the cafe 'Vins du Pyrenees', a short walk from our flat. Full of typical Marais types, it's lively and cosy inside, with a menu featuring almost exclusively beef. I had the 'piece du boucher'- an indeterminate cut that just means whatever steak the chef has that looks good, and is usually onglet. It came with frites 'maison'- i.e. real fried potato, not a bag of frozen fries - sauce au poivre and a small dressed salad. It was excellent. The other advantage is it was a little cheaper than our previous favourite up in the 3rd, and there are a range of Pyrenees wines you can buy by the half-litre to go with you meal. I think we'll be going back.
